Matt and Karen were married this October at the Berkeley Plantation in Charles City VA. Their wedding had a southern flare that I couldn’t resist sharing with y’all!
Karen was a vision in her white lace gown! How pretty is that belt?! And, a fun fact…She is actually a professional wedding planner herself!
Karen met her groom, Matt though work. “I used to sell vehicle accessories at a car dealership and he manages a truck accessory store. I used to sell stuff I had to get from him so I could go see him, and he would make my sales top priority so I would keep coming back. It worked!”
Karen is a huge magnolia lover so she incorporated their beautiful leaves throughout the day. I am in love with the bouquets!
Their ceremony took place outside on what looks like a perfectly sunny day!
Matt is an avid fisherman so during their vows, they did a fisherman’s knot ceremony!
They were then, man and wife!
Their couples portraits were one of Karen’s favorite parts of the day. “It was just a fun time for the 2 of us,” she said. And check out Matt’s boutonniere…see that bit of teal? It is a fishing lure! So cute!
Their tented reception with burning candles was so elegant!
And the love for fishing came full circle with this adorable cake topper ?!
The last detail I had to show y’all…their wedding favors were bags of grits that said “Grits and Gratitude” on them! How cute?!
Congrats Karen and Matt! Thank you for sharing your big day with us!
From the Bride:
What was your favorite detail from the day? “Anything to do with our flowers. Bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, ceremony Urns and garlands oh my! Jen Wiley at Wiley’s Florist did an outstanding job. I literally burst into happy tears the minute I saw the bouquets. She took a vision in my head that I know I did not explain very well and made it come to life. I also loved the time between the ceremony and the reception when we had our photos taken. It was just a fun time for the 2 of us.”
What advice would you give to a bride to be? “This may sound cliche as I am a wedding planner, but hire a planner. Even if its just for day of. I did and there is no way I would have enjoyed not only the day but the weeks leading up to it. I was able to relax and spend quality time with my friends, family, and Matt without worrying about all the little details that go into finalizing and executing such an important day.”
