Happy New Year fellow wedding lovers! I hope you had a great 2018! We are kicking off 2019 with a stunning wedding at the Historic Mankin Mansion in Richmond, VA from last May.
Kristina met her hubby-to-be while working her first job out of school. “I worked the evening shift and he worked the day shift, but he would always find an excuse to come to visit me at work. Usually, that involved bringing me cheesecake or a hot fudge sundae. I think he knew my sweet tooth was the way to my heart,” Kristina said.
They started their day with a sweet first look to calm their pre-wedding nerves. Isn’t Kristina’s gown gorgeous?!

Kristinia’s favorite detail from the day was the bridesmaid dresses and I’d have to agree! They are so unique and beautiful!
After all the portraits, it was time for the big moment. Kristina said her father was “cool as a cucumber” as he walked her down the aisle.
She also said she cried like a baby during the ceremony and I don’t blame her! It is such a magical experience to marry the one you love!
With a kiss, they were pronounced man and wife!
The reception took place inside a tent and was simple yet elegant.

What was your favorite detail of the day? “The bridesmaids’ dresses! I fell in love with floral dresses while planning and Mori Lee happened to have a stunning floral print dress with the perfect cream/sage/blush colors. The cut of the dress was so flattering, and the girls just looked like princesses. I was so lucky to have friends who trusted me in picking out a floral printed dress. I know that would scare most people! My day was made when Mori Lee shared our wedding photo on their Instagram page.”
What advice would you give to a bride to be? “People will tell you through your whole planning process that you should do what you want, not what others want, but that advice is extremely difficult to follow. In the end, I really think a compromise is necessary. Make the day what you want it to be, but understand that it will not be perfect. Something will probably fall out of line or won’t fit your dream image, but that day will still be the most magical, love filled day of your life! No one will remember if the roses were the wrong shade of pink or the chicken was a tad cold. They will remember how in love you were with one another standing at the altar that day. If you have the time, write your own vows. I was so nervous while writing my vows thinking it would sound silly or I wouldn’t be able to portray my feelings, but reading our own personal vows to each other was my favorite part of the day.
