Does your husband-to-be wish he had done everything on earth with you? If you answered yes, and recognized the quote, you just might be on the lookout for a Great Gatsby-inspired wedding!
This was a request from a reader, and I have to say, I expected this one to be easy based on the fact that the Gatsby theme seems to be a trend in just about everything – including weddings. However, I had a lot more trouble with this one than I expected! But I made sure to come up with something spectacular for you Virginia brides!
For a Gatsby wedding, I like the idea of having taupe and teal as your main colors, with splashes of pale pink. Both the teal and pink were relatively popular in the flapper era, and they are eye-catching without being too modern!
This dress is from Sottero & Midgley. (I’d like to give them a shout out and say that the idea of actually giving their dresses names instead of numbers is adorable. This dress in particular is named Shauna!). I love this dress because it embodies everything about that era with style. The beading at the top is very reminiscent of the flapper dresses, and the feathers at the bottom add just that touch to make you the stand out without having to wear the big ball gown. I also love the headpiece featured on the model! I’d also suggest a birdcage veil with feathers on it, if you wanted to have a veil instead of the headband.
The bouquet was actually found on this blog I stumbled upon. I thought Gatsby was the perfect chance to have a brooch bouquet! While this bouquet isn’t entirely made of brooches, I still love the antique feel that the pearls and brooches on the bouquet bring to it. The white flowers are perfect, unless you decide to have the pale pink color accent, in which case you have a lot of options in flowers as well!
I am obsessed with these shoes. This is where the difficulty came in – I had a friend who saw them on Pinterest and sent them to me, which sent me on a wild goose chase to find the original website with the designer of them, since the pin led to a blog post with just a picture of them! Luckily, I tracked them down for you! They are from Emmy Shoes based in London. However, they can be ordered online and Emmy has locations in the United States as well! The scallops on the shoes are perfect for the 1920s, and the ivory color works well with the vintage feel we are going for with the Gatsby theme.
As for the earrings, they can be found on Etsy. The pearls and gems will go with the bouquet, which also features both, and will match the look and feel of the gorgeous Sottero & Midgley dress!
And last but not least, I’ve never had a nail design on one of my style inspirations before, however, I think Gatsby lends itself to a perfect opportunity! These nail designs were found on Buzzfeed, and have the scallops to match the era and the shoes, and you can switch around the colors at your will to fit your exact theme. I might do teal where the light blue is on the edge and taupe instead of the black. It’ll look vintage and beautiful, which is exactly the look we are going for!
