The Scoop:
Matt and Jacqueline fell in love while living and working in New York City. While Matt is a New York native, Jacqueline grew up in Richmond, Virginia where she spent many weekends at her grandparent’s river house in the Northern Neck. When Matt popped the question, the pair knew they wanted their big day to reflect their mutual love for the rural, relaxed pace of river life. Naturally, they chose Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club to serve as the backdrop for their big day.
When planning, Jacqueline knew she wanted the decor to complement the natural elements of the Northern Neck. The color palette was inspired by the colors of an oyster shell; blue, white, and gray. Jacqueline hand painted an oyster shell emblem that would appear on programs, gift cards, and welcome cards.
The ceremony took place outdoors right by the river on a picturesque hole of Indian Creek’s golf course. The service took place as the sun was setting and several sailboats passed by quietly in the background.
Jacqueline walked down the aisle in a Monique Lhuillier V-neck gown graced in Chantilly lace and soft Spanish tulle. Her maids wore grayish blue Jenny Yoo gowns that complimented the natural hues of the river.
As the sun set and sailboats passed by, Jacqueline and Matt were framed by two large white urns that were overflowing with curly willow, poet’s laurel, magnolia, eucalyptus, dusty miller, and white and blush flowers. They exchanged vows and rode off in a golf cart while their guests enjoyed cocktail hour.
Fresh greenery and bistro lights hung from the tent and set a laid back ambiance as guests entered the reception. The tables were clothed in gray tablecloths with gold lanterns and greenery as accents.
In true Northern Neck fashion, guests enjoyed oysters on the half shell from a rustic wooden trough. The menu also included Virginia ham and New York strip to highlight Matt and Jacqueline’s hometowns.
After enjoying their lemon blueberry and honey lavender wedding cake, the newlyweds exited in a golf cart as guests waved sparklers and wished them well.
