LOVE STORY
Jeffrey and Dominique’s love story is an enchanting tale of destiny that unfolded in the summer of 2022, shortly after the Fourth of July. Jeffrey and Dominique set out for a leisurely stroll along the Richmond Riverfront Canal Walk with their beloved furry companion on that momentous day. As they each ventured towards the Great Shiplock Park area on the canal walk, the sun cast a golden glow over the surroundings, painting the scene with a mesmerizing warmth. Little did they know that their paths would converge in a serendipitous encounter forever changing their lives. Unbeknownst to them, this seemingly ordinary meeting would spark something extraordinary and magical, setting the stage for a remarkable love story.
FIRST DATE
Jeffrey and Dominique’s first date was a day full of unique experiences that entertained and amused them. They opted for a day full of mini-dates in the surrounding Richmond area. They started with a unique experience at Transitions Float RVA, where they tried float therapy in a sensory deprivation tank. After that, they enjoyed a delightful brunch with mimosas at a local diner. They indulged in a couples massage at the Awaken. But the best part of their day was yet to come. They decided to visit Goodwill and set a $20 spending limit to pick out the tackiest outfits for each other. Once fully decked out, they went for a wine tasting and had a private picnic on the lawn at James River Cellars Winery. It was an epic day filled with laughter, fun and bonding. And it was a testament to their adventurous spirits.
I LOVE YOU
Just shy of two months into their relationship, Jeffrey mustered the courage to be the first to say those three little words, ‘I love you.’ It was a beautiful evening; they were sitting by the river, and the words spilled out. Dominique immediately reciprocated his feelings in a moment filled with love and mutual respect, setting a beautiful example of a healthy and loving relationship.
When asked what he admired most about Dominique, Jeffrey could not help but gush, “Dominique is one of a kind. He is confident yet humble and his heart is unlike anything I have ever met. Whether collaborating with homeless veterans or supporting his friends and family, his heart guides every step.”
In return, Dominique expressed, “Jeffrey has a caring, gentle and loving spirit. His positivity is infectious and he always prioritizes me, considers my feelings and loves me unconditionally while also being my protector.”
PROPOSAL
The summer of 2023 will always hold a special place in the hearts of Jeffrey and Dominique. It marked a turning point in their lives, a beautiful chapter that started with a planned couple portrait session. Little did Dominique know, this session would turn into a surprise proposal along the Canal Walk, adding an unexpected twist to their love story. The day ended with a congratulatory event with their closest friends, making it a truly memorable occasion.
On that fateful day, Jeffrey and Dominique were scheduled to meet a photographer, Whitney Phillips, for a couple’s portrait session. Their attire for the session was casual and relaxed, with comfortable jeans, classic white t-shirts and white tennis shoes. The couple said, “the session captured the vibrant colors of lives.” “We both had struggled for years with their identity but their mutual love for one another has given them the courage to embrace who they are.” The session concluded with a colorful cloud of smoke billowing out from their umbrella.
The plan was to start the photoshoot at the downtown Richmond Train Station, then stroll through the Shockoe Bottom area and along the James River. But the real magic happened when they arrived at the Canal Walk murals. Jeffrey kneeled and asked Dominique to spend forever with him. Dominique quickly responded, “Yes.” It was a moment filled with love and joy that will be cherished forever.
“Jeffrey, the love of my life, surprised me with a breathtaking Le Vian chocolate diamond ring on a 14k honey gold band from Jared,” said Dominique. “It was a moment filled with overwhelming joy and love as he then handed me a matching ring to slide onto his finger.”
When they arrived home from the photoshoot, Jeffrey once again surprised Dominique. This time, fifteen of their closest friends were waiting on the front porch with balloons and signs to congratulate them. A few weeks later, the newly engaged couple hosted a big engagement and housewarming cookout with over 50 of their closest friends and family.
Six Seasons Photography truly outdid themselves by skillfully capturing the couple’s love amidst the lively atmosphere of Shockoe Bottom and along the scenic Canal Walk. The couple’s coordinated outfits were stunning – Jeffrey looked dashing in a white shorts and gold shirt ensemble, perfectly complementing Dominique’s gorgeous gold shirt and white shorts. They truly embodied a power couple with impeccable style!

Save the date for the highly anticipated event of 2025—Jeffrey and Dominique’s wedding! They have locked in the stunning Farm 1750 in Hustle, Virginia, a picturesque venue with lush greenery and rustic charm, for their big day in August. It is going to be a celebration to remember. Six Seasons Photography has been retained again to capture the couple’s precious digital memories.
