Styled shoots are a creative way for photographers, stylists, and other wedding pros, to show off their talent and visions to inspire readers for their own wedding planning.
Today’s shoot was the vision of a group of talented wedding pros led by Exceptional Events by Elisa and Butterfly Photography.
A word from Elisa about the shoot:
For this design, I decided to go with a non-traditional minimalist design for the modern Indian bride in mind. I decided to use blue, blushes and pinks as our primary colors with silver accent.
Indian weddings are 4-5 day affairs
Brides wear a lehenga, or wedding sari (according to the region)
Diana is wearing a Ghagra (full ankle length skirt) Choli (a shirt or short bodice leaving the midriff area bare). Diana is also wearing a Dupatta (a shawl-like scarf). This outfit is normally used for the actual ceremony
Traditionally bridal outfits are red and gold. However, modern brides now using all different colors.
Indian brides are required to wear 16 adornments or embellishments (Solah Shringar) to compliment her bridal attire. These 16 adornments are:
- Bindi: color dot on forehead between eyebrows (traditionally only married women wear bindis)
- Sindoor: Bright red powder that groom applies on bride (down the center of the hair)
- Mangtikka: big jewelry on the hair and forehead
- Keshapasharachana: Indian hairdo
- Kohl: thick dark eyeliner
- Nath: Nose ring
- Haar: Necklace(s)
- Kam Phool: Earrings
- Henna on hands
- Choodiyan: Bangles
- Baajuband: Armlets
- Hair accessories
- Kamarband: Waistbands
- Paayal and BichusAnklets / Ankle Bells
- Toe rings
- Itar: Perfume
