The Woodlands at Algonkian: A Stress-Free Venue in the Heart of the Algonkian Regional Park

Situated along the banks of the Potomac River in the Algonkian Regional Park, you’ll find 800 acres of gorgeous natural backdrops for your wedding day. The beautiful park is home to the Woodlands, a stunning reception room with 20-feet tall ceilings and picture windows overlooking the manicured golf course.
The reception room holds a stone feature wall and fireplace, perfect for a rustic, elegant, or cozy wedding theme, especially in the cooler months. On site, you’ll find an outdoor ceremony lawn with a large, built-in pergola overlooking the wooded views, a large outdoor patio and lawn space for cocktail hours, and a glass-enclosed foyer for indoor cocktail hours.
The main reception space comfortably accommodates up to 200 guests seated, with enough room for a large, built-in dance floor. Adjacent, a bridal suite with ample space for the bridal party to prepare awaits with amenities and comforts.
“We aim to be available to our clients throughout their entire planning process, answering any questions or concerns they have along the way. We only host one special event per day, and our couples have access to the site as early as 10a.m. so they can get ready on site.”
One of the great benefits of booking with the Woodlands is the access to the Algonkian Regional Park, filled with activities for all ages. From the 18-hole golf course to hiking trails and the boat ramp, there’s more than enough to keep everyone busy. The beautiful grounds offer plenty of opportunity for relaxing, as well, for those guests who prefer the low-key feel for the weekend.
The Woodlands works closely with the in-house catering department, Great Blue Heron Catering, to assist couples in creating the perfect menu for their taste and needs. Approximately one month before the event, clients and staff from the Woodlands sit down together for an extensive walkthrough meeting to discuss floor plan, timeline, and other day-of details. On the day, the Woodlands staff are happy to help assist with placement of simple décor pieces like place cards and table numbers, as well.
The Woodlands not only has the reception space but 12 onsite riverfront cottages, ranging from two to five bedrooms each. Many couples reserve some or all of the cottages for wedding guests to have access close by for the big day. Brides and grooms also receive a complimentary round of golf on the Algonkian golf course!
The staff of the Woodlands aim to work mostly in the background so clients may enjoy as stress-free a day as possible, knowing that the logistics and small details, even last minute changes and bumps in the plan, occur without a hitch.
