Wedding Registry Ins & Outs

Creating a wedding registry can be completely overwhelming. In the midst of wedding planning, you have to think of everything you may possibly need in your brand new home? Sounds pretty stressful, right? That’s why your complete guide to making your registry a fun experience instead of a stressful one is right here:

A Few “Rules”

More so etiquette than rules, here are a few things to keep in mind before diving into the most intense online shopping experience of your life:

  • Aim for a certain amount of gifts. A good rule of thumb is to double the number of guests that are invited to the wedding. For example, if 150 guests are invited, shoot for around 300 gifts.
  • Have a variety of price points for gifts on the registry.
  • Don’t print the registry information on the invitation, instead inform guests by including it on your wedding website.

Where Should I Register?

Plenty of stores have registries available. Common and convenient options are Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Additionally, more upscale stores like Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel are great choices. All of these stores can be linked on wedding websites, like The Knot.

How Do I Create a Registry?

The registry process can be done completely online! Type what store you’re interested in followed by “registry” into the search engine to get started. You can add items to the registry online or on the store’s app or in-store by scanning items with your phone.

Ideas At Every Price Point

The Knot is a great tool to track your registry and what has been purchased. It gives the couple a guide to how many gifts should be added in total and broken down by price point. For example, for a couple expecting 150 guests there should be 44 gifts under $49, 52 items between $50-$99, 34 gifts between $100-$149, and up to 30 items over $150. Keep in mind this is just a guide and can absolutely be customized for each couple. Here are some ideas in each price category:
