Forget the fancy ballrooms and formal country clubs. This isn’t your grandparents’ wedding you’re planning, and those conventional trappings just aren’t you. Couples seeking a destination venue where friends and family can gather to celebrate their special day with adventure and style will find just what they’re looking for at the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows in Roseland, Virginia.

As craft beers and their manufacture have taken off across the nation, breweries have become a hot venue trend for couples looking to bring a modern, relaxed atmosphere to their celebrations. Obviously ideal for beer enthusiasts, local breweries also provide unique opportunities for couples to reach beyond the ordinary to create events that truly reflect their own styles and personalities.

Surrounded by breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows is located on 100 acres along the Nelson 151 Corridor, at the base of the Three Ridges Mountains, right below Wintergreen Resort. Less than a 30 minute drive from Charlottesville, the Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows provides true outdoor spaces, with virtually no limit on the number of guests that can be accommodated for ceremonies and receptions. It additionally has indoor space for more intimate gatherings, as well as two lodging facilities that combined can sleep up to 18 guests.

One such indoor space is the Summit, a historic 1870 train depot originally constructed in Arrington, Nelson County, and relocated to its current spot at the Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows in 2007. Today, the Summit serves as a breakfast locale for the community, as well as a warm, character-filled event venue. The Summit accommodates up to 40 guests inside, with additional space available on a surrounding deck. Outside, guests can mingle on the deck or venture further into the public areas of the Basecamp, bringing the party with them into the central German-style beer garden area or gathering around a full outdoor bar. Join in a game of cornhole or grab a glass of draught and relax in one of the Adirondack chairs surrounding the large central fire kettle. Smaller fire pits are strategically placed elsewhere in cozy nooks that provide charming spots for warm conversation or even making S’mores.

Any event at the Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows can be individually tailored to fit your unique vision. An on-site executive chef will customize a menu with your specific tastes and interests in mind, and pair it perfectly with Devils Backbone’s own locally brewed beers, of course, or any of an array of additional drink options to meet the tastes of all your guests (even the teetotalers).

Truly setting the Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows apart as a venue for the wedding party and family to enjoy together, exclusive lodging facilities are available on site, as well. The Casa and the Tudor are two unique houses, each nestled in its own clearing, but mere steps away from the Basecamp facility. Both of these spacious homes offer beautiful panoramic views and surrounding landscaped lawns that are perfect venues for ceremonies and receptions alike. The houses are built with upscale materials and are equipped with all the necessities you would expect in a luxury vacation home. The four-bedroom Tudor sleeps up to eight people, while the Casa, with its four bedrooms and a loft, can sleep up to ten.

In addition to all that the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows has to offer onsite, a host of nearby wineries, historic locations, and other local destinations, such as Wintergreen, Skyline Drive, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, provide additional leisure options for couples looking to transform their special event into a longer family adventure.

Why not take a leisurely drive up this weekend to check out this uniquely friendly and authentic facility? Enjoy lunch in the Oak Grill restaurant, walk the grounds, and get a true feel for the spacious locale and its sweeping vistas.
