Virginia wedding

Welcome to our wedding! Have a gift!

Somewhere someone decided it is better to give than to receive, and so, then someone else presumably decided to do this for their wedding, and designed a gift bag! So here are some ideas for gift bags for your wedding guests who flew, drove, or bussed their behinds to your wedding.

Give them a bag!

Or rather a tote, preferably something that is thematic to your wedding. Many people came from out of town or out of state, so location based is fun and favorable.

Give them some water!

A bottled water with you and your soon-to-be spouse’s new names is great. Monogram it or have your pictures on it or something else to make it special and sweet.  Maybe a nice poem. “Roses are red. Violets are blue. We are so glad you came.” Something about churches and weddings makes people parched.

Be a tourist!

Give them some postcards, a pen, and a disposable camera. Include a snow globe or something kitschy that says BE TOURISTS! HAVE FUN!

Give them a snack!

I haven’t been to a wedding yet where someone somewhere didn’t complain that it was taking too long and they were starving, so give them some peanuts. Or I guess those adorable almonds. Something to snack on that isn’t messy but will tide them over. Hard candies are great because you can suck on them. Mints for freshening the breath before everyone gets close in a confined space.

Give them a keepsake!

Everyone loves a gift! And this you can go completely freestyle. Anything from fun magnets to miniature picture frames to ornaments to anything really. Maybe if you are a millionaire you’ll give them Tiffany’s, because nothing very bad ever could happen at Tiffany’s (Breakfast at Tiffany’s quote’ish).

Give them a WELCOME note!

Design a note to put in the gift bags that welcomes your guests, something that maybe gives them some ideas about the area, or any updates or news you want to share. Include a picture of yourselves and any pertinent information like maybe your new address or a shared phone number or email. Anything that helps you stay in touch and connect with your guests.
